Laura Robinson is a filmmaker and musician based in Te Whanganui a Tara.
Driven to tell Wellington stories, Laura created the web series BURBS in 2015.
In 2017, Laura co-produced her first short film, Drop Down Globe, one of six Someday Stories broadcasted on Māori Television. Her satirical true-crime podcast KillJoy was funded through the NZ on Air and RNZ innovation fund and was a Voyager finalist for best narrative/serial podcast.
She co-directed and co-wrote the Grand National runner-up 48-hour film ‘A Multitude of Ways to Leave Your Lover’ in 2022 and was nominated for best female director.
Laura drums in post-punk band ‘EUG’ and indie-sweethearts 'Soft Plastics'. Their holy anticipated debut album 'Saturn Return' was independently released in 2023 and was nominated for the Taite Music Prize (IMNZ) 2024 Auckland Live Best Independent Debut Award.
